Fine Gem Stone Jewelry Care
Each fine gem stone is unique and imperfect at the same time. Small earthly inclusions and slight variations in size are all part of working with natural material and light, that's where the beauty of each piece lies, though even the hardest gem stone variety can be vulnerable to breakage if it has inclusions that weaken the crystal structure.
So caring for your jewelry properly will greatly extend it's life. Over time, metals naturaly oxidize. To help slow this process it is advisable to keep your jewelry in airtight bags and out of direct sunlight.
A polishing cloth specially made for sterling silver jewelry can be used to restore tarnished pieces.
For gold filled pieces, use polishing cloths that are specially formulated to clean this material.
It is also good to keep jewelry pieces wrapped separatly in soft cloth or tissue to prevent the gem stones from scraping or chipping against one another.
